Benefits of the Soya Bean

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Soya is one of the oldest and most nutritious foods in the world. In the 11th century BC it was primarily consumed in Northern China, spreading to the west and the U.S.A. in the middle of the 18th century and only more recently to Europe. Soya is mainly used in industry and for animal feed despite the fact that it is the third most important crop world-wide today and less than 3% is consumed by humans.Soya has many nutritional advantages as it contains protein, fibre and isoflavones which have positive effects on cholesterol, bone density, menstrual and menopausal symptoms as well as preventing certain cancers. It is thought to be a wonder food by the Chinese who believe it can cure kidney disease, water retention, common colds, anaemia and leg ulcers.Research studies by Professor Anderson in 1995 resulted in healthy heart claims as Soya was found to reduce blood cholesterol levels in many of his studies. Soya isoflavones combined with soya protein enhance blood cholesterol reductions as well as having a positive effect on menopausal women by reducing the risk of hot flushes. Improved vascular function, reduction of blood pressure, antioxidant protection of LDL cholesterol and inhibition of platelet activation are other known cardiovascular effects of Soya and its constituent isoflavones. The recommended daily amount of soya protein by the UK Joint Health Claims Initiative in 2002 is 25g as part of a low-fat diet to help reduce cholesterol level. In orser to achieve this RDA of Soya to promote a healthy heart and reduce cholesterol it is necessary to consume three portions of a Soya based food each day. This can be easily achieved by using Soya milk on cereal each morning, adding soya milk to tea and coffee and choosing a dessert made from soya milk eg. custard or fruit smoothies yoghurt etc.,There are many Soya cookery books available as well as the many recipes containing soya beans and tofu which already exist in Chinese cooking books. If more people included Soya into their daily diet the risk of developing Heart disease would be reduced which would have a significant impact on the incidence of mortality caused by Coronory Heart Disease today. The product we personally use called Total Balance - http://www.health-product-we-use.com is the best supplement we have come across. Two Way Radio and The Battle Against The Storms

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Imagine the scene, you go to bed on a seemingly normal March evening having just heard on the news that storms are forecast close to where you live and where you work. During the night you can hear the wind howling outside your window and car alarms going off in the distance. You somehow manage to fall asleep again only to hear the familiar sound of your alarm clock waking you for another day.Now picture this scenario when you go downstairs to make you morning cup of tea or coffee only to be faced with your ground floor flooded, no power to your home and may of your prized possessions floating around your living room. For literally thousands of people this nightmare has become reality in recent years and for those people knowing that help is now at hand to help tackle the aftermath of such a tragedy is perhaps a little late. However, for home and business owners in general, modern 2 ways radio is now being used to make sure such events are handled in the very best way possible. And whilst they will not be able to help repair the loss adverse weather and flooding can cause, two way radios like the Motorola xtn446 are being used by emergency services, business owners and home owners to make sure the devastation caused by flooding and hurricanes is dealt with quickly and effectively. In many cases where flooding and storms hit, power lines are cut including telephone lines so communication is often extremely difficult. This can hinder the speed and effectiveness of the rescue and repair process and therefore more suffering is suffered. The emergency services realise this and therefore many take advantage of modern two way radio which allows them to communicate over a wide area without having to rely on external sources of power which many other forms of communication tool suffer from. Two Way Radio whilst not a new way for businesses to communicate does give them an ideal solution to keeping in touch, for a relatively low cost, even in the most adverse weather conditions. The effectiveness of communication in times of hardship and tragedy can often make the difference in saving time, saving money and even in saving lives. If you want to make sure your business or indeed your home has a fail safe method of communication that can be relied upon in even the worst of conditions, 2 way radio like the Motorola xtn446 could be just what you need.Make sure you, your family, your staff and your property is safe at all times and use two way radio to make sure it happens.Apex Radio Systems Ltd are the UK’s Leading Providers of Radio Communication Equipment including Two Way Radios for all types of business including Schools, Pubs, Shopping Centres, Retailers and Taxi Firms. As the UK’s Fastest Growing Radio Communications company, Apex Radio Systems Ltd, are active supporters of schemes including Shop Watch, Pub Watch and School Safe which all use 2 Way Radio Systems to help improve safety and communication amongst UK shops, pubs, clubs, schools, colleges and universities. For all your Two Way Radio needs contact The UK’s Two Way Radio Experts, Apex Radio Systems Ltd

Acer Aspire EasyStore 1TB NAS Review

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

I recently had the chance to test one of the Acer Aspire EasyStore NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices. The units come out of the box with either 4x 250GB hard drives (the 1TB version) or 4x 500GB (the 2TB version) all of the drives are Seagate drives making the unit that bit more quiet and reliable, they also stay cool with a rear 80mm fan which is inaudible throughout the use. These in the past have always been a very expensive item that only business users could afford, but the new Acer Models are A LOT cheaper, and the first thing you notice as you get it out of the box is the style, its not just a black box to hide away in a cupboard, but it wouldn’t look out of place next to a new TV or a shiny new computer. The model that I got to test was one of the 2TB models, more than enough storage for even the biggest downloader, the unit itself was very easy to set up with just being a power cable and network cable, you can even connect it to the network by the built in wireless adapter, so you don’t even need to set up a full home network.I was expecting to have to install hundreds of drivers for before windows would even find it but I was mistaken and one quick program later and I could back up to the drive with the greatest of ease and showed up in “My Computer” as a network device - overall very easy to set up.The user interface was very easy to use from any computer on the network through a web browser, making it perfect for storing films music and pictures, it even allows you to set up an FTP server so you can access the files from anywhere in the world!!All in all this is a brilliant product for a sensible price when compared to other brands of Storage Devices and would go well in any home network with no hassle, I would definitely recommend this to anyone that was looking for an external drive for home, well worth every penny.Article by CCL Computers, suppliers of laptops, hard drives and computer hardware.

Cordless Phone - Designed To Serve You Better

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Cordless phone is an indispensable item whether it`s in your office or your sweet home. It can be used whenever and wherever necessary either sitting on the office chair or roaming around your garden or sleeping on the bed. In the early years, cordless phone was not popular enough because of its short battery life. But technological advancements like long battery life with other added advantages made it more popular later on. Now it can be seen everywhere. Because it is light weight, looks trendy, pocket-sized, free from wires, etc. They are now competing with the cell phones in terms of look, features and facilities. How does it work?Cordless phone uses radio frequencies to transmit voice information. It sends as well as receives digital signals from the base station to the handset. These signals are then converted into sound which becomes audible to the user. A cordless phone was the only option that used to enable a person to talk while he was away from the base station. Most of the cordless phones have likely features as a standard phone and are available in the market with various models. A cordless phone is the combination of a telephone with a radio transmitter and receiver. It has basically two major parts; one is handset and the other is base unit. Base unit receives incoming calls and converts it into an FM radio signal and transmits it to the handset.Types of cordless phones:Cordless phones available in the market can be categorized mainly into three types according to their frequencies. The first category cordless phones have 900 MHz frequency. They are affordable and widely used in homes or small business houses. The second category cordless phones have 2.4 GHz frequency. They are improved as compared to the previous category in sound quality and greater range from the base station. But the third category cordless phones have 5.8 MHz frequency. They are quite expensive, better in quality, and wide in coverage. They are suitable for large business firms where the multiple handsets are used.Reason of its popularity:Cordless phones work at very low radio frequencies giving wide coverage area to the users. This low frequency permits the user of the handset from an area within range of the base station. Within it`s coverage area it provides high quality voice reception and no interference by external objects. An important point to remember is the battery stand by time or the life between two consecutive charges. Clearly, the longer the battery can go between charges the more flexibility for the user .The longer the stand by time, the better would be it`s performance.Benefits:Cordless phones with single, dual, multi-headset system allow the users to interact with each other easily at any time. Each of them possess a separate handset, but they share the same phone number. The users with multi-handset cordless phone can also transfer calls to one another as in an intercom system.A cordless phone with built-in answering system records the voice mail and conversations. It has multiple private mail boxes to store the voice messages. The headset locator function enables the user to find out the misplaced handset effortlessly. Some other great features of cordless phones are call hold function, mute function, voice dialing, speed dialing, auto redial, call transfer and forwarding facility, caller ID, call-waiting caller ID and speaker phone. The multi-line cordless phone is ideal for multi-line operations in which the user can put the present call on hold and make another call. With just a single phone line one can use two phone lines. It is a conference phone for the business professionals.Roberto Sedycias works as IT consultant for PoloMercantil

Clothes Dryer

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

There are two types of clothes dryers one is gas the other is electric. The gas dryer is half gas and half electric, the gas is used for lighting a flame to create the heat to dry the clothes, the electric is used to operate the motor, timer, ignitor, coil kit and thermostats. The gas dryer has more working parts than the electric dryer, when there are more working parts there is a greater chance of something breaking, the gas dryer does break down more frequently than the electric dryer. The electric dryer use 220 volts to operate the heater element only, all the other parts use 110volts. Both gas and electric dryer have some basic parts: motor, timer, belt, thermostats, and thermal fuse. These are the functions of each part. The motor turns the belt that is on the basket, the timer sends the desired voltage to each part for the desired time that it is set on, the thermostat maintains the desired temperature and the thermal fuse shuts down the dryer if the thermostat fails.A common problem with both gas and electric is clothes taking a very long time to dry, lint building up in the exhaust vent hose is sometimes the reason. The best way to check if the exhaust is partially blocked is to turn on the dryer. Then go outside to where the vent is, put your hand close to the vent, if there is little or no hot air coming out out, your vent hose is blocked. There should be a strong flow of hot air coming out. Sometimes birds build their nest at the vent opening because of the warm air they find coming out of it. Also if the vent comes out near the ground it sometimes get covered by snow.http://hubpages.com/author/fyxer/hot

What Can You Do With A Body Fat Monitor?

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Today, if an individual wishes to measure his or her own body fat, a body fat monitor can be purchased for personal use. A person no longer has to meet with a medical professional and undergo a series of tests to have body fat measured. The body fat monitor looks and works like a standard bathroom scale and can be used in a number of ways in the person’s own home.It is important to differentiate general weight from body fat weight. Although general weight is important, what a person weighs is also comprised of other body parts such as skin, bones, and organs. Overall body fat and the way is distributed on a person’s frame can have a serious impact on daily mobility and overall health. A body fat monitor can help differentiate general body weight from weight comprised of body fat.Your general body shape is actually affected by your body fat. Try to think of a balloon. Now think of that balloon filled up with one pound of body fat. That same balloon, if filled up with one pound of muscle, would actually be a lot smaller than the balloon filled up with one pound of fat. That is because muscle is much more compact than fat and so it naturally has the same impact on your body shape. A person weighing 180 pounds with mostly muscle would appear smaller than a person weighing the same, but comprised of mostly body fat.Almost all doctors have body fat scales that you can use to measure your body fat weight. Remember that a body fat scale is different than a regular scale because a regular scale will simply measure your total weight. In many cases, knowing the total weight simply isn’t enough to provide an accurate picture of your health. Using a body fat monitor will, instead, give you the information you need so that you can determine your next course of action.Along with visiting your doctor, a number of products you can buy for your home will also serve as a body fat monitor. There are some models available in health stores that can measure your body fat a lot like a bathroom scale; you simply stand on it and it takes a measurement based on the information you input. You can also buy hand-held models to measure your body fat weight. In order to determine your body fat weight and make the necessary changes, you need an accurate reading. You will likely never get a perfect reading, as a lot of measuring body fat is reliant on making estimates. For the most part, however, you should be able to use a body fat monitor to determine if your health is in jeopardy because of your body fat weight.Gary Holdon is a writer and internet publisher. Tips for Purchasing a Digital Camera Lens

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Your lens is an essential element to good photographs. It’s not just your camera. People spend thousands of dollars on a good camera and neglect the lens.Change that around! Make sure you buy a good camera lens when purchasing a camera. Buy a good camera as well, but don’t neglect a good camera lens. Why? Your camera is just the ‘holder’ for the photograph. The lens is what your camera sees all your shots through. A good lens is essential to clear and sharp photos. With most compact digital cameras, you can’t change the lens. So in that case, don’t just buy a good camera, ensure it also has a good lens.Avoid a plastic digital camera lens because it doesn’t have the clarity of a glass lens. What model of lens?Stick with camera lenses from well known manufacturers like Nikon, Canon and Pentax. Ensure you purchase a lens that works with your camera too. A Nikon camera lens usually won’t work well with a Canon camera. There are specialty lens manufacturers like Carl Zeiss, Leica and Leupold. If you’re a beginner, don’t worry about these lenses until you are more advanced as they come with very high prices and it’s hard to justify the price for the small increase in quality.Types of Camera LensThe most common lenses are : Wide Angle, Normal and Telephoto. The type of lens is determined by the Focal Length of the lens. See below. A Zoom Lens is simply a lens that can change Focal Length from a Wide Angle to a Telephoto (or somewhere inbetween). There are a number of things to look for when purchasing a camera lens.Lens Focal LengthThe Focal Length of a lens determines the amount of magnification and angle of vuew the lens can see. The Focal Length is measured in mm. It’s the Focal Length that determines if the lens is a:- Wide Angle; small magnification, wide angle of view. 20mm to 35mm- Traditional, or Normal; 50mm- Telephoto; high magnification, narrow angle of view; 105mm to 300mm.- Zoom; A Zoom lens can change it’s focal length to zoom in. A Zoom lens might have a Focal Length of between 50mm and 150mm.Some lenses are interchangeable between film cameras and digital cameras, but you need to be aware that the effective focal length CHANGES between film and digital. The focal lengths I describe above are for FILM cameras and need to be multiplied by 1.6 to get the effective focal length on a digital camera. So using a film 35mm lens on a digital camera has an effective focal length of 56mm.What does this mean for you? It means that you won’t get as wide angle on a digital camera as you would on a film camera using the same lens. A 35mm lens which gives a medium wide angle on a film camera acts as a traditional lens on a digital cameraThis is a complex subject, so I can’t go into too much detail here. If you need more help, the best person to speak to would be your local camera store’s resident expert.Lens SpeedThe ’speed’ of a digital camera lens also defines a lens. The speed is determined in f-stops and is similar to the f-stop aperture setting on your camera. Faster lenses are more expensive and usually heavier.Focusing DistanceThis is the minimum distance from the camera lens that a subject must be to be in focus. Don’t worry about getting a camera with a close focusing distance. Concentrate on a telephoto instead.More Advanced FeaturesMore expensive lenses have more advanced features.- Vibration Reduction. A feature called ‘vibration reduction’ keeps images sharper when shooting in low light. They help to counter any vibration in the camera. Try to find a digital camera lens with this feature.- USM USM stands for Ultrasonic Motor. This feature of Canon lenses gives you a high speed auto focus but the main benefit is the ‘motor’ is almost silent, so you don’t disturb people around you when your camera is focussing.- Filter Thread. When purchasing a half-decent lens, it should have a filter thread. This is a thread that allows you to screw on a filter (such as a polariser) to help when photographing difficult situations. Even if you don’t need filters right now. it’s handy to purchase a lens with a thread so you can add a filter later. You get what you pay forGenerally the more expensive the lens, the better it is. More expensive lenses usually have a higher number of glass elements in the lens, which also makes them heavier.Final NotesWhile it is important to choose good quality camera lens, for beginners it isn’t as important as good composition. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you can only take a great picture with an expensive top-of-the-line lens. A badly composed picture won’t look great with a great camera lens.I don’t mean to discount the importance of a good quality lens. A good rule is to only add to your lens collection only when you have a specific need for a particular digital camera lens.Do your research and your homework first, and find the lens that suits both you and your camera.David Peterson has a great love of photography and has created a series of free tips at http://www.digital-photo-secrets.com/ to help digital photography users everywhere take better photos.

Get Better Photographs With a Photo Trip Checklist

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Imagine, there you are behind a blind of bushes watching a fawn and its mother in the woods. What a great picture it will make! You reach for your camera and realize you have a wide angle lens on the body. To get a really great picture of the deer you will need your telephoto. You reach in your camera bag every so quietly. You feel around. You feel some more. In a quiet panic you realize the lens is not there. Then you remember, you cleaned it last night and left it on your workbench. You were so excited to get out into the woods that you forgot to pack it.The fawn and its mother look at you as if to say, “We have posed long enough! If you are not going to take our picture we are leaving!” With one last look they run off into the woods. The great picture is gone, for today anyway.Whenever I prepare to go on photo trip, whether it is near my home or across the country, I always go through a basic checklist to ensure that I have everything I need for my trip. I actually have multiple checklists since I shoot a Nikon digital SLR camera and a Nikon film camera. I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to gadgets and equipment. I only bring those things I really need. Here are my checklists:DigitalNikon D70s camera bodyBattery chargerExtra BatteryLenses: 300mm and a zoom lens (18 to 70mm) mounted on the cameraMemory Cards: I usually bring three 512 cards with me. I use 512 cards because I can burn a full card on a CD on my laptop. That is about the full capacity of a CD.Laptop with CD burner: I generally down load the digital images to my laptop and burn a CD. This gives me backup while I am shooting. This is just a measure of safety to protect the images I have just taken.Blank CDs Camera manual FilmNikon camera bodyFresh batteries in camera Extra set of fresh batteries as backupLenses (some will work with my digital camera as well)Film: I bring twice as much as I think I will actually need.Camera manual Lens shade For both CamerasCokin P filter holderPolarizing filterGraduated neutral density filterExposure meter18% Grey CardTripodLens cleaning kitRain protectionSoft cloth for wiping down camera bodiesMini Cassette recorder to record field notes as I take each shot. This is great when you are cataloging your images. It helps you remember the time and places images were made.GPSMaps of the area Research on the area I am visiting These lists work pretty well for my style of shooting in the field. They ensure I have the equipment I need for my photo trip. As I gain new experiences, I tweak the list to add those things that will improve my experiences in the woods. You have to develop your own list to complement your style. It begins with trial and error. Develop your first list with the things that you believe you will need for your photo adventure. When you come back, review the list. Add things you wish you would have taken with you and remove things that you did not need. As you refine your list, you will find your photo trips will be much more enjoyable and much more productive. Make sure you use your checklist every time you go on a photo trip, near or far. As the old saying goes, success is when opportunity and preparation meet.Thomas T. Dean has been an avid photographer for over 30 years. Bosch Water Heaters

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

If you want to get rid of your old water heater, make it a point to look through the Bosch water heaters. These heaters are unlike the older ones that consumed huge amounts of energy while giving low outputs. Bosch water heaters also save money and space (if you go for the tankless one). The water heater industry has really progressed over the years and today the types available are perfect for any requirements. Energy saving has become the buzzword and all have proper energy efficiency ratings assigned to them. This allows the conscious consumer to get an idea about which one is really best for his home and budget.Bosch water heaters have many different varieties. One of the most useful of them all is the tankless water heater. This technological achievement saves a lot of space and energy. Energy saving has become so important because not only does that give monetary benefits but also helps the planet. The tankless types can provide an unending supply of hot water. This is rather tough for the usual water heater tanks, particularly if too much water is used at any given time. On the other hand, with no tanks used, the water heaters that are tankless can heat water on demand and do not require a special place to hold water.Bosch water heaters also use electric units to heat the water. These are less expensive to buy and are easy to install. However, if your family is large or if you have high water requirements, this method might not be the best. On the other hand, if you use the electric variety with the tankless one, not only will you save space but also will be able to use it for very heavy water needs. So, check all your requirements and budget before settling on the right type.We provide all the information you need on Delta Roman tub faucets, Delta kitchen sink faucets along with Kohler, Bosch, Grohe and Bosch water heaters and accessories.
